so now 1stStrike doesen't have a host. Now i know there are some hosts

Due to popular demand Proball season 2 will start. Currently league is accepting signups here.
Proball is miniature version of SSCX Powerball which is 4on4 matches unlike 8on8 for normal Powerball. Smaller player requirement helps Non-Powerball players to feel the waters of
season play without the hassles of stringent player requirement and highly competitive league where newer squads has difficulty keeping up.

This is an interactive SubSpace story, the first chapter is given and you ALWAYS have 2 choices about what to do next after each chapter. When you arrive at a point where nobody submitted a chapter before you can write your own chapter and thus continue this INTERACTIVE story on your own!
This is pretty much a test run which will last until end of January, I really hope many players submit chapters to the storyline. At the end of this test I will post the most active thread (with the most chapters) AND the most creative thread on a seperated website....

to the holidays there will not be an AOW event this Friday. But
starting the 5th of Janurary AOW will be going through some major
changes. I will be adding a staff to AOW, the games will be more
planned and thought out and we will even have a website. Please all be

At this time , I would like to thank all the staff in USD Annihilation for all the hard work they have done over the last few years.
We have had alot of changes since I took over as sysop and we have had good and bad times. But we have survived the test of time and
we are about to embark on the next step to growth.

to call an old friend and old USD sysop ....MikeyDee. After extencive telephone conversations across North America, we have come to
some decisions.
1. USD Annihilation is going to have two sysops
Mikeydee and Gemini Dream as partners .
2. USD Annihilation is going to move to the old servers in california ( MikeyDee's ) for more stability.
3. The staff will stay the same and we will weed out the people that dont play anymore and take them
off staff. No new staff are being added !!!
4. We will be leaving the SSC billing server and setting up our own and all CanLink and SSnet zones will be on it also. This will
probably be a bigger server network than SSC !!!
5. We will be setting up our own web page and a web page for all hosted zones
6. There will be sub arenas in usd for the settings we have used for the past and the main arena will be the original USD arena
with Jackpot and KOTH added.
And lastly and for-most, I would like to thank all the players in USD Annihilation.....without you, there would be no need

DSB Robocop Problems. Xalos | Thursday, December 21, 2000

made a new addition a little while ago called robocops. These cops
monitored the arenas and made everyone legal automatically. Well after
the map change and wipe they were removed. Rumors had it that OP's were
not doing enough so they decided to remove them. Some even heard that
they were never meant to be there. With all these rumors in mind I
asked Zvuv! about it and he said "They were purposly put there :) and
there are not gone just down for the moment." So for all DSBers that
were worried about illegals again be relieved because loops says
robocops might be up sometime soon probabbly today! =)

They are showing to the public how far they are at this moment developing the new league format aka structure of the pyramids. They have finished with the playoff format for next season and are now working on the regular season. They will hopefully discover every little bug that could cause a problem during the season.
Also did the staff make an important announcement concerning the squadnames and players aliases:
The Staff has gotten together, and decided that we are going to request from all squads, that the alias' and Squad name they choose be appropriate and not sexist and or racial in any way. With this in mind, we must request that the "squadcaptains" inform all of their squad mates of this, and have them change there alias' (if it's sexual or racial) before the season begins. Failure to do so may result in your squads removal from this league. This would be a unfortunate event, and something we do not wish to do, but will if needed.

if you were in EG, im sure you were annoyed by the constant spikes
occuring about every 15-20 minutes, sometimes ever less than that. I
hear a lot of people say it is 'hackers' but it is not, it is just
server spiking, just to clear that up. Welpers, i got to run, c-ya

Recently
after the wipe on wednesday the DSB staff decided to get into the
holiday spirit. They added a new map which is filled with snow and
christmas hats. Most players liked it but few relized that the southern
wall blocking you from flying over www.deathstarbattle.com is now
passable. Loops(the boss) admits it was an error on the DSB staff but
does not know who to blame, either way it will be fixed. The only
problem with the map in Flagship's words "This map makes my instinct to
kill turn into one to hug the other guy."

World War 3 Scof | Wednesday, December 20, 2000-Xalos
In
the christmas spirit..and with most people having the week off and lots
of time to play subspace..I've come up with an idea. I will be running
an event that will start on tuesday of next week called World War 3.
It's an event that a squad, a single person or a group of people can
participate in. There is 3 prizes: 1 for first, second and third place.
The prizes, I promise are very awesome. What this will consist of is a
huge jackpot, awesome "mini map" made just for the event, random prizing
every 5 minutes and other little goodies. The "prizing" will be the
supplies for your ships..because after fighting off a bunch of invaders
from the other team or teams an extra repel or portal could save the
day. The goal of this event is to gather the most points and best rec.
Why? Because the goal in any war is to kill as many of the enemy as
possible while losing the fewest men..and the points will help you to be
able to afford to buy items to defend your base. And, this event isn't
just a one night thing. There will be another World War each week
afterwards with more awesome prizes each time. This promises to be one
of the biggest, most in depth events of all time! So don't miss
out..gather your squad, your friends..or even just come by yourself and
challenge the power of the world at SSN 1stStrike!

Suggested by DuckDuck to lower your lag, click here to download a program called CCTask to change the priority of subspace. To do this you must
1) Start subspace and minimize it by pressing Alt+Tab
2) Open CCTask and select subspace.bin
3) Change priority to Real
Doing so will increase the smoothness of your game.

Here
are a few updates before I transfer my attention away from the 17th
Parallel towards SSCX SCF West. I would like to continue posting for
17th, but I do not get much updates from them.
Fujin Frost and RifleMan have created a map called "Flagship" which is a CTF-style game which has rules such as
1) 5 players per team
2) players start at each side of the field, none start in the middle.
3) unlimited lives/unrestricted ships
4) game ends when one team has captured all the flags, no time or hold limit, just instant win.

The record of 37 players in the zone at once was broken on a Wednesday, I am afraid I do not know the new record.
Players from the US and parts of Europe have been kicked out of 17th
Parallel lately because of an unstable router not far away from the
server, a complaint has been sent in to the router administrators about 9 months ago.
Stealth and cloak has been removed from the ?go javwar and 17thelim arena, so all ships are allowed to be played.
And last but certainly not least, players really love Lev elim.

EG Elim Winners =) OCoN!? | Tuesday, December 19, 2000Fujin Frost and RifleMan have created a map called "Flagship" which is a CTF-style game which has rules such as
1) 5 players per team
2) players start at each side of the field, none start in the middle.
3) unlimited lives/unrestricted ships
4) game ends when one team has captured all the flags, no time or hold limit, just instant win.

since all the leagues are taking a 3 week holiday break, I'm sure many
of you are going into SS withdrawal :) So myself and the dueling zone
staff are going to be holding a 2v2 tournament on December 30th. So stop
crying, find a partner, and sign up. Email me, Eagle,

and the teamname you'd like to go by. We'll be using standard Dueling
Zone League 2v2 rules, which you can read here
if your not already familiar with them. We found out last week whos the

With the recent surges in the population lately, it is a given that there would be new Subspace sites and eager players anxious to help contribute to keeping Subspace alive.
That being said, an old veteran, BlackHoleSun has undertaken several new projects to help contribute to the longevity of Subspace. Included in his list are a FLASH only site Subspace news site and a FLASH conversion of Subspace (yes that means you can play Subspace in your browser...but most likely not against other players :).
Also, in the next few weeks, expect to see this site upgraded with some flash objects and a whole mirror site totally built with flash as well.

Yes folks, that's right. Formely located at http://subspace.has.it, Downloads Central has nearly everything you have ever needed in terms of Subspace files and utilities. The creator of the site, BoKi has also joined the SS.NET Crew. BoKi and another new addition to the staff, Rowen7,

Ladies
and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. The Trench Wars
League is finally over. The reigning champions, Elusive, played an
awesome match against Siege. With all predictions leading to Siege's
victory Elusive, today, was the underdog. Siege came out strong but
ofcourse, as all of the matches with Siege and Elusive, it becme tied
down in the middle. In the last match-up Elusive came up strong towards
the end to gain the win. This time, though, Siege pulled hard. Siege
came out the dust with their guns up and a title around their belt. Was a
good match between both squads. Elusive after the match dissolved. They
left a mark on TW and will be remembered. Siege came out of the rivalry
winning 3 out of the 5 matches. Good Game to all.
This also marked my retirement as a leader. I am not leaving being a leader forever, but I am sure going to take a long break. "The new WZL is coming soon - and with it alot of additions to the seasons of last. The news at present looks like this:
1) NEW STAFF REQUIRED. In the past WZL has run on a skeleton crew. We are now looking for alot more of you "WZers" to help the league run smoothly making it more enjoyable for everyone. The positions are as follows:
i) 3 "Match Co-ordinators" are required (SMOD access).
The job of the Match Co-ordinator is to ensure the general smooth running of each WZL game. Their purpose is the following:
* Know rules inside+out
* Settle in-game disputes
* Set-up, Announce games at game time
* Allocate refs to freqs and advise on any questions
The purpose of recruiting 3 (obviously only 1 per match is needed) is to make sure there are enough around to cover all games.
ii) 9 Refs Required (MOD access).
Job Spec:
* Know rules inside+out
* Sit on assigned team freq
* Answer questions from assigned team
* Assign players in event of lagout/substitution
* Check players on assigned team against roster
iii) 1 Security Officer (SMOD access)
This person (who won't be known to the public) is responsible for creating a database on all WZL players (yeah thats alot of using *info). The purpose of this is to ensure there is no double-squadding. This person will be highly trusted and anyone applying for the position must be of that nature.
NOTE: A link will shortly appear on the menu bar on the left to apply for these positions. The exisiting ref application is no longer active and should not be used.
Also, exisiting STAFF for WZ are MORE THAN WELCOME to apply for these positions. Please apply in the same manner as everyone else, but adding a note that you are currently a mod/smod.

tonight consist of the original AOW event where you are placed in two
equal teams and you fight in an all out war.. Nothing but carnage! The
person that gets the best average wins. Then there is the powerball
event. The two equal teams once again. The first team to score 9
powerballs wins the second event!

I am a SYSOP in a new zone called SFSS Portal and am representing the project in this message. The project was started with aspirations of giving the regular player a chance to get his zone online. The zone consists of a main arena where directions lead people to various subzones (submitted by players). These players don't have sysop powers so their control is limited. The purpose is for everyone to have a chance getting their zone up. If a subzone gets a steady traffic, it gives the owner an incentive to find a real host/server for it. SFSS Portal also gives the owners of servers and hosts to look at zones for candidates to host. haven't posted anything in a while, it's been a slow time for me in
finding news. I still am not getting much information from the 17th
parallel staff, I do not even play in that zone much anymore. I have
asked Rude Awakening and we agreed that I could turn towards news from
SSCX SFT West. I am now a moderator in SCF West and will be assisting
Rude in his events. By the way, these events take place on Friday
9:30PM EST (AOW) and Saturday 3:00PM EST (SNS2).

Bah
not as good of a turnout as some of the previous AOW's but it was
enought to support a decent AOW. We had the new prizetarget along with
two person team dueling afterwards. The winners for both events was
Picclo and B-U-G. The MVP's of the events were Questioning Silence and
1st Strike for their hard work and perseverance in fighting a 2vs1
match.

presence known in his zone with my Special AOW event held in CanLink 1st

Hi all,
I've been thinking about this a long time. Lately I'm very busy with my real life, I am in university, work 12 hours away on top of that, and govern a sports club on top of THAT. The few hours that I DO play SubSpace I often play for Zeta in AM League, and sometimes I attend some elims in Extreme Games.
It would be unfair for me to stay sysop of Extreme Games. I simply am not able to do enough for the zone to grant me the privilege, others are working their asses off and I think they should be given a chance.
Although I REALLY like being sysop of Extreme Games, in spite of the many many issues that it brought along, I decided to step down as sysop. I will still use my experience to help out whenever I can, and I will stay part of the staff. I don't want to miss out on that cozy bunch that is the EG staff - guys, I'm very proud of you. You have done a GREAT job lately and sometimes I am astonished how much effort and devotion goes into things.

In about 30 minutes, a brand new Subspace site, SubspaceArena
will be officially opening its doors at 4:30PM EST. From what I have
seen and heard, they look to be serious and it should be worth a good

Well I was supposed to post this yesterday for 1stStrike, but I was very busy and it slipped my mind, anyway here's some information on what he had to say about his zone:
Even though it appears that many zones were shutdown on CanLink Gemini Dream didn't shut mine down...and he had a good reason for it to. But thats not the point...I just want to keep my zone going as it was before and I hope you will all still come to the event we have planned for this saturday at 10 pm EST. It's not an AOW event but i have decided to do something interesting. Each saturday night at 10 pm EST we will be holding a new event with either modified settings of the main arena ones or totally different ones. After the event is over we will grant prizes to winners and list them in the news.txt and give them the right to say that they kicked everyone elses asses. This saturdays event is what I call 'Omega Flagging'. Now you would expect a ton of flags but it is the exact opposite...there is 1 flag with only 2 people per team. Get the flag and your ship will only be able to move at a snails pace and turning...well almost impossible. But the flag will enhance your guns and make it so that your weapons take very little energy compared to everyone elses. You will need to turret your team mate and rely on him to drive for you while you have to defend the both of you. Jackpots will be incredibly high and this promises to be an awesome event. I hope to see you all there in the ?go events arena on saturday night and remember....you can't judge a book by its cover. An event or zone may not sound good but if you come in and try it out you never know..you may have found a new favorite zone.
I recommend to head on over there to check out his zone. It's an old zone that is becoming more and more popular since he has brought it back. It has very original settings and a dedicated sysop.

number of people in 1 match (coincidence both times involved Elusive).
Elusive vs Scrotal's were set to face eachother today for the FINAL

Ok
this probably was the best AOW ever behind the one back in Witch Doom
several months ago. The event started off shaky with only 12 people
showing up. Turret wars went off slowly and it took the people a little
while to catch that there was turreting going on. But as the turret
wars event go farther in more people started showing up and the event
was up to 21 people. Of course that didn't last to long but an average
of 15 people was in the zone. Turret wars was won by Freq 0 with barely
any competition. For the flagging/powerball game Freq 1818 won.
Remember a special AOW event will be held tommorrow night in CanLink 1st
Strike at 10pm EST in ?go events. In that event will consist of a
special teamkilling game.

I am in an extremely good mood tonight. Maybe because it's Friday.
Well anyways since it is Friday, you know what that means. AOW is in
SSCX SCF West at 9:30pm EST Tonight. We will have the turret wars
followed by the special flagging event. For the turret there will be
two equal teams and you can divide you team into turrets. As many
turrets as you want with as many people. The goal is to kill as many
people as you can in that turret before the 25 mins is up. Whoever
racks up the most kills wins that event. For the flagging event there
will be two seperate but equal teams again. The goal of the two teams
is to be the team to win three flagging games first. BUT you has to
have scored two powerball goals also to win. More will be explained
when event comes around.
Minefield Rude Awakening | Friday, December 1, 2000Here is the last post posted on e from the minefield:
Today was the last day of the third year in the life of the Minefield. December 1st is the page's birthday. I am tired of it. I've thought very seriously about ending the page tonight. I will not. Instead, the page will be changing dramatically beginning tomorrow. In time it might look nothing like it has in the past. This is as it should be. The roles it once filled are now filled by others, and there is much out there to do that is presently being done by no one.
At the same time, I'm planning for this in many ways to be a return to what the page was about back when it began. With luck this will be more fun for everyone concerned, and generate a more consistent output without causing me or others quite so many headaches.
My thanks to all of you who have kept coming back here through the years, especially those among you who didn't give up when the page reached the point of near total inactivity. The loyalty is much appreciated and is the reason I continue on. It is the reason Subspace continues on, and what keeps this game fun in its old age.

As you all know Einexile has been around this game for as long as anyone can remember and has been a big part of it too. A part of that has always been The Minefield. I am very pleased to see e not let this part of Subspace history die and very shortly you will see a very dramatic change in the way the Minefield is runned.
